love at first sight: luggage racks

Did you all see this pretty vintage lucite luggage rack on One Kings Lane a couple of weeks ago?
I was sort of obsessed...

It inspired me to post the pair of luggage racks Gigi picked up awhile back.
We have two racks just like this one...

Our pair is pretty basic, but I want you to imagine them painted in a fun color.  And while you're visualizing, get rid of that one lonely, single strap and replace it with several straps or even a fabric remnant.  They'd be perfect at the foot of the bed in a guest bedroom...

OR add a tray and you've got bedside tables...

Interested in the pair for only $12?

before and after: utility cart

Splash of Lime is growing.  It turns out, many people enjoy finding previously loved items.  And with growing demands, what began as a mere experiment has become a bit of a family operation.  There's my sweet daddy whose work on blog projects may be affecting his golf game... per his daily score card tweet, he "Struggled in today, 88. Must have worked too hard on the blog yesterday."

And then, there's my precious big brother and my sister-in-law.  Over the weekend, my brother Jeb unleashed his AAAAA-MAZING makeover skills.  Gigi and I gave him the challenge, HELP US turn this utility cart into something beautiful.

So Jeb took this...

Before...

And turned it into this....

After...

He cleaned up the chrome legs, added the happiest blue paint (selected by my sister-in-law, SPT), and even cleaned up and coated the bottom of the trays.
29 1/4" H x 22" W x16" D

It's even more amazing in real life than it is in the picture.  It could be used in a million different ways... in a home office or craft room, in a nursery or child's room, in a kitchen or... my top pick... as a bar cart.

There's a similar one here on Etsy.  They are asking $45 as is or $85 painted, plus an additional $24 for shipping.  Interested and prefer our price?  E-mail single.splash.of.lime@gmail.com with your offers.

currently coveting: chinoiserie lamps

Several of you are currently coveting chinoiserie anything and so Gigi and I keep our eyes peeled for all things bamboo, pagoda, and toile.  I silently squealed when I spotted this pair of lamps.

Two of my favorites.  Lamp pairs.  Vintage chinoiserie.  Oh happy day.

First, a pair of lamps can help bring color and symmetry to a space.

And second, these vintage chinoiserie lamps just feel special and unique.  I'm struggling because they are amazing as is, but I really want to make them over.  I'd like to paint them either white or celadon and finish them off with a gloss...

Sort of like these...

via

And a very important note, this pair of chinoiserie lamps is available to you at a fraction of the cost of similar lamps on the market today...

E-mail us at single.splash.of.lime@gmail.com if you're interested.

love at first sight: the thoughtful tulip...giveaway

In preparing for Mother's Day several weeks ago, I originally planned on getting Gigi a new Tervis water bottle.  She loves a monogram almost as much as I do and I knew it'd be a functional gift that she would use often.

... but then, something wonderful happened... my precious friend, Megan, launched "The Thoughtful Tulip" and she created this pretty perfect water bottle for Gigi for Mother's Day.
"The Thoughtful Tulip" is my new go to for personalized gifts at fabulous prices.

Like this fun water cooler... $15

Or this sweet personalized bucket and shovel set... $10

before and after: bamboo chair sneak peak

I can hardly contain my excitement.  Remember these chairs...

Before...
 ...from this post...

Well, Gigi and I are keeping our word by keeping you posted.
The chairs are nearly finished and here's a sneak peak...

After...

We are seriously giddy over them and we are eager to reveal the finished product.
Happy Before and After Wednesday A!  We can't wait for you to see them for yourself.

currently coveting: garden stools

Several of you have been e-mailing us with requests for garden stools.
I think it's worth noting that Gigi actually calls them drums and that they've had a place in our home for as long as I can remember... as side tables, in bathrooms, on patios... we've used them all over.

They come in all shapes and sizes... and often with hefty price tags.

While we have some favorites (keep scrolling), we LOVE our very reasonably priced Splash of Lime option.
It needs to be cleaned up and could really use a paint job.
We'll even paint it for you... you just pick your poison paint color.

Here are some of our favorites...

Square Lattice Stool from Emissary Homes... $270

Blue and White Chinese Stool from Overstock... $109.99

Interlocking Rings Stool from Wisteria... $219

Coveting our version?   E-mail us at single.splash.of.lime@gmail.com with your offers.

weekend find: bombay table

Sweet and happy memories.

When Gigi texted me a picture of this precious find, I had the sweetest and the happiest memories of my Mother's house.  Mother was Gigi's mother, my grandmother, and truly "Mother" to everyone she met.
21.5" H x 27.5" W x 17" D
(with sides folded up)

A little history... Gigi's Daddy, Pa Jake, built houses and though they always stayed in Dobson, the houses Gigi lived in and the various pieces of furniture that filled each home created a distinct timeline for Gigi, my Uncle Mike, my Aunt Barbara Kay, and my Aunt Tootie.  When they share stories, they inevitably reference where they were living at the time... whether it was out Highway 601, the old Hemmings homeplace, the house on Kapp Street, or the house down below the Allison tree.

I never knew my Pa Jake and I never set foot in any of the houses Gigi grew up in, but our sweet Mother had one of these Bombay Co. butler coffee tables and it served as a reference point for me.  For as long as I can remember, Mother had a coffee table like this one in her front room.  I remember folding the sides of the table down and sitting on the floor around it, cousins alongside me, all of us eating bowls of the very best strawberry dumplings...

We want this sweet little piece to be a happy reference point in your home.
